MOMS Club of San Jose, CA Activities
|
Playgroups:
| Playgroups offer our children the opportunity to learn how to socialize with others not only by playing with other kids, but by watching the way we moms interact with each other. Playgroups generally meet once a week, but are individual in that choice. Members meet in each other's homes or parks. Some may actually plan activities for the kids while others may want to just get together and let the children have free play. It's all up to each playgroup to decided how they'd like to approach their playtime. We offer playgroups grouped by the children's age. Age range for each group initially is within 6 months. That may change as siblings are added to the group. The MOMS Club Playgroup Coordinator is a volunteer for the club who keeps track of which members belong to what group and makes sure that all members are placed in a playgroup that is comfortable for them. |
Park Days:
|
We offer two park days per week. We have an afternoon park day and a morning park day. Park days allow our kids opportunities to meet their friends for a good dig in the sand or a slide down the play-gym. It also provides us MOMS with an opportunity to socialize with other MOMS, share our good days and our bad days, or just soak up some of our California sunshine. The parks that we choose are on a rotating basis in order to provide a variety of play opportunities for the kids. All parks on the rotation have bathrooms to facilitate children who are potty training or may already be potty trained. All members with kids of all ages are welcome to join the park days. |

Special Events
We have three different activities coordinators who organize special events for moms and their children to enjoy together. Baby Days events are greared toward mom's with children under 12 months old. Baby Days events may include lunches in the park, a shopping trip, or trips to a local zoo. Toddler Days events take into consideration the interests and developmental skills of children 12 months to 36 months. These activities range from trips to zoos, museums, parks, tours, "play-places", and much more. Finally, the Pre-Schoolers + events are geared towards the interests and developmental skills of children 3 years-old and up. Activities may overlap. A two year-old may enjoy a pre-schooler's event while pre-schooler's often enjoy toddler's events. Moms are always welcome to bring ANY age children to ALL activities. This is often necessary with siblings. The only exception to this are the Library Story Times. Most libraries ask that the public stick to their age guidelines, usually due to space availability and age appropriate readings. We normally have two special events scheduled per age group per month.
MOMS Night Out:
| Mothers need to get out too. Once a month, MOMS meet for a night out on the town. Our outings may be an elaborate dinner and show, dinner at a local restaurant, a barrel of laughs at a nearby comedy club, a road rally, a pampering evening, or just a get together at another mom's house for games and laughter. MOMS nights out include anything members desire for a night of fun and relaxation without interruptions! |
| The Club meets once a month to vote on club related issues, and generally has guest speakers attend to address issues relevant to our members. Topics range from: Non-verbal Ways to Communicate With Children; Kids and the Law; Breastfeeding; Dealing with Emotions, Infant Through the Toddler Years; Infant Care (heath care issues); Home-schooling; Preschool Education; Yoga; Meditation; and much more. Kids are always welcome to attend meetings. We try to have creative activities or toys for the children to play with during the meeting. This is an excellent opportunity each month to touch base with members that you may not usually run into. Plus, the most important aspect of our club is having the members provide their input into how the club is run. |
Party and Family Events:
| |
Each year the Club features holiday parties and some family events. An example of family events would be a potluck BBQ in a local park. All members of the family are invited to these events which generally occur on a weekend. Party events are usually held around the time of special holidays. |
